The Creative Voices Festival Branding and Design System

Creative Voices is a annual festival that teaches about different skills/ careers in the creative field. Offering affordable tickets for those who wish to learn. Attendees can attend the vendor fair, awards show or lessons taught from professional speakers. Each year has 2 main themes and the themes for this year were painting and photography. Deliverables for this project included posters, signs, sandwich boards, branding, a motion video and banners.

Journey Of Creating The Design System

After the creation of Creative Voices Festival I started with logo concept ideas. The concept decided on was in the shape of a speech bubble to represent the creative voices at the event. The font chosen was fun, creative and colourful. The colours were chosen to be bright and colourful. Once the logo was created in Adobe Illustrator the logo was then animated in After Effects with all the event icons in the same style. The goal was to keep all the deliverables consistent and recognizable.

Themes and Deliverable Designs

The deliverables were stickers themed after each category, icons, sandwich boards, signs, social media posts, posters, and a motion video of the logo. Each category was given a unique colour and illustration. The categories for this year were photography, painting, graphic design and creative writing.

Sandwich boards were made to navigate attendees through the event and banners were placed outside events with times and titles. Stickers were given out as collectables foe each event. Posters were put up to bring awareness to the event along with social media posts, signs and web banners.

Final Thoughts

Overall the project was a learning experience and taught me that consistency is really important when creating a design system. The colours were exciting to work with and I really enjoyed illustrating for each category and choosing the colour palette. One thing I would change is the different design for deliverables. I would make them not as similar between each design but still consistent and clean.
